The Lion King 3D in Theaters Now
by Veronica Spettmann
There are many aunties out there who have nieces and
nephews too young to remember when The Lion King first came out in
theaters. For two weeks only, those aunties have a chance to show their
favorite kids the magic that they missed the first time around, but with
the added wonder of 3D.
The movie is only playing for two weeks because it is expected
to give consumers who want to experience it on the big screen a sense
of urgency. Though, with the film’s popularity and a fresh generation of
children that are itching to see the film on the big screen, this is
hardly necessary. The Lion King 3D is now playing at theaters
nationwide.
This big-screen event should not be missed. The magic of the
three-dimensional remastering and the surround sound are enough to make
an auntie feel that maybe she is attending the showing more for herself
and her own nostalgia than for the sakes of her nieces and nephews.
What child (or adult) would not love to experience the wonder of
watching Zazu weave in and out of the jungle trees during “I Just Can’t
Wait to Be King,” or to watch Scar jump out of the screen as he attacks
the freshly returned Simba? Funny glasses and ticket prices aside,
reliving this Disney masterpiece is something families can truly enjoy
together.
The Lion King 3D has been released as a precursor to the Diamond
Edition Blu-Ray Combo Pack, Blu-Ray 3D, and Movie Download versions on
October 4. The Lion King 3D grossed over $29 million in its opening
weekend.
